On the night of November 30th, It was rather an embarrassing sight as Yolanda Adams appeared to be lip-synching to a scant crowd of labor party supporters in Dominica . It seems that Mrs. Adams did not know that Roosevelt Skerrit a few days prior had been shown on the Al Jazeera documentary as being one of the most corrupt leaders in the world. A few Dominicans had attempted to reach Mrs. Adams via social media to inform her that she should not perform at a political rally of the dictator. We do not know if she heard the cry on social media and chose to ignore it. What we do know is Mrs. Adams found her way to Dominica to perform at a political rally of the dictator Roosevelt Skerrit . While the concert was going on , across town the opposition party held their own function. It was the launching of their the manifesto on how to move Dominica forward. What is interesting is the crowd for the opposition function was three times that of the labor party gospel concert with Yolanda Adams.

It is rather shameful how impoverished Dominica has become while it’s leaders have become extremely rich. This year alone, Roosevelt Skerrit has invited several foreign artist mostly gospel singers, to come to Dominica to perform at his political rallies. It is alleged that he has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars per artist to perform. Some of the artist that we know have perform this year in addition to Yolanda Adams are Donnie McClurkin ,Shirley Caesar and several other artists. It appears to be exploitation of poor people based on their religious belief
Just a few days ago ,Al Jazeera has shown how corrupt Roosevelt Skerrit has become.
Skerrit’s former friend and partner Alireza Monfared who was made the Dominica ambassador to Malaysia was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Iran. He had bought a Dominican diplomatic passport from Skerrit. He was accused of helping to embezzle billions of dollars while the country evaded international oil sanctions . He was also hiding out in Dominica while an international manhunt was on for him .
We want Shirley Caesar, Donny McClurkin and now Yolanda Adams to know what they have associated themselves with .
The Dominican diasporans will continue to let their voices be heard and expose these singers for their promotion of Dictatorship on the backs of poor people in the Caribbean.
