Are you a Patriot or Scoundrel- Using Patriotism (Nationalism) as your last resort?

This new resounding call of nationalism that echoes through Dominica chills my bones! I even heard from Reginald Austrie the number two most despicable, NEGATIVE character in the labor party hierarchy calling for citizens to leave all negatives began and sign onto the dictator’s pledge. I was wondering what exactly Austrie means by negative, to ensure that I had the meaning of negative right, I looked it up again..

Negative: Noun, “word or statement that expresses denial, disagreement, or refusal”
Adjective: “consisting in or characterized by the absence rather than the presence of distinguishing features.”

So what is Reginald Austrie and all those who make that same requesting telling us?

Are we all supposed to not speak in disagreement of all the “NEGATIVES” that continue to happen in our country?

Are we all supposed to not speak when the NEP workers are terminated?

Are we not supposed to speak when DBS radio goes after Alex Bruno?

Are we not supposed to speak when Catherine Daniel says to her constituents that those who did not vote for her will not eat?

Are we not supposed to speak when those who did not vote for labor party are victimized?

Are we not supposed to speak when Roosevelt Skerrit tells the people of his constituency that if they did not want to vote for him they should stay at their damn homes?

Are we not supposed to speak about the infant mortality report that was just published showing some troubling signs in the country?

Are we not supposed to speak about that young man that was murdered at the Labor party victory celebration on the 6th of December there has not been a post mortem done because there pathologists in Dominica?

Are we not supposed to speak about the crumbling roads in Warner and Bells are everywhere else?

Are we not supposed to speak about the fact that something is not right with the CBI, the only source of revenue for Dominica at this time?

Are we not supposed to talk about the whispers that some Public Servants have not received pay in three months?

Are we not supposed to say we heard that it is the Social Security Administration and other private entities that have been providing the funds to pay some Public Servants for some time now?

The list of “NEGATIVES” that we must talk about goes on, and on, and on, but Roosevelt Skerrit is demanding that we all leave all the negatives behind in our new year mantra, and forget about the $1.2 billion, the Al jazeera report all the “NEGATIVES” that Roosevelt and his regime have brought upon this country and join the dictator’s pledge in the interest of the country.

As a student of history I have seen this game played before and it never ended well for the country where it was played..

The new call for nationalism reminds me of some terrible things, there is danger in that call.

I am a patriot who will speak about the negatives of the country in an effort to turn them into positives!

I am a country who adopts the saying of Mark Twain — ‘Loyalty to country ALWAYS. Loyalty to Government when it deserves it.’ .

And by gully, this Government though it retained power through the most disgraceful, fraudulent mockery of an election like we have never seen in Dominica does not deserve my support, my respect nor my loyalty. So I shall continue speaking about the negatives and remain loyal to my country, and not to any political, and or political party!

We all should! Save Dominica from this dictatorship!
