Tears of Joy

It has been 5 years since the Concerned Citizens Movement ( CCM ) members have been advocating for electoral reform in Dominica. Loftus Durand the president of CCM has been a leader in the forefront as an advocate for electoral reform. For the past seven days they have been on the streets of the capital of Roseau,  Dominica calling for a meeting with the president of Dominica,  Mr. Charles Angelo Savarin . They have been met with barricades from the police. On three occasions citizens have been assaulted by police officers.

The protesters under  leadership of Loftus continue to stand their ground even camping all night in front of the Neg Mawon statue at the police barricades. On the morning of November 17, 2019 a patriotic woman took it upon her self to bring breakfast to the protesters. Loftus Durand interviewed her on Facebook live. It was at this point that Loftus Durand could no longer contain his emotions. He cried . He stated that these were tears of joy and the action of this patriot who was not a wealthy woman , who didn’t own a restaurant took it upon herself to feed the people. This was a symbol that they were getting somewhere with their protest stance .  He was extremely thankful

God bless Loftus and the heroes at the Negre Maron statue. Their service will be recalled long after the cheating calypsonian who has turned himself into a thuggish policeman. History will record their heroism in defense of democracy. History on the other hand will curse the Crooked Smile Nero who sits in the State Palace and does nothing as our democracy burns. He who betrayed the civil servants and aids and abets the theft of elections and has become the modern Pharaoh. That crooked Pharaoh hid behind the veil of secrecy provided by the internet to undermine our democracy by plotting with the corrupted cricket umpire who has disgraced himself by associating with the wannabe dictator. Be strong patriots. It is often darkest before dawn. We the people are our modern day Negre Maron and Kalinago Warriors may God bless them!

An anonymous donor gave me $50 for Loftus and ‘The Patriot Movement!’

My family and I happened to be passing the Neg Mawon monument at a time the protesters were on break. A pick-up loaded with battle-ready policemen stood idly by. The patriots had challenged them days on end, demanding to speak to the president about electoral reform.

A vehicle pulled up. The window rolled down. The driver reached across his wife in the passenger seat and handed me the folded dollars. “Give this to Lofty for the Movement.”

I was a bit taken back. Why me? He seemed to anticipate my next question. “Don’t tell him my name. I want to remain anonymous. Just tell him its from a concerned citizen from the Valley.” He was a Government worker, but he was completely opposed to the nonsense that was going on in the country…
From the chitchat that followed, two were clear: 1. people appreciated and respected the sacrifices of the protestors for love of country. And 2, this sentiment was steadily growing toward a tipping point….
