Dominicans owe Shirley Linton a debt of gratitude. Last night ,Saturday November 30th, we saw the power and grace of Shirley Linton as she told the nation with a calm countenance about her husband Lennox Linton. Her voice was clear as she spoke with authority and conviction. It was not the farce that we have grown accustomed to when political wives talk about their political husbands in Dominica.
Sometimes, I have wondered how does she do it? It has not been easy for her. I imagine It cannot be easy for any wife to endure that witch hunt that her husband has had to endure simply for offering himself to serve his country. She has seen her home in jeopardy, her children’s lives disturbed, her family under threat, but she has persevered along with her husband. She has remained his pillar.
Many of us have wondered why she had not been playing a more active role in her husband’s campaign. I guess everything is about timing, and the timing was perfect for her. She bloomed on that stage last night.
I have been watching her silently, and I can say that I have nothing but respect and admiration for her. She commands respect and admiration. She is the kind of woman I would like to see sitting next to my Prime Minister. She is the kind of woman a young woman and look up to and emulate.

I had fine pleasure of breaking bread with Shirley in 2018 when Demet and myself want to Dominca to deliver medical aide. She recognized that no one from Skirrt team came to greet us or thank us for our service of the island. It only Lennox, Shirley, Erroll, Danny Lugay and Sam Christian that bothered to accommodate us.
