IMMORAL OR AMORAL?

“The difference between amoral and immoral- they both have to do with right and wrong, but amoral means having no sense of either, like a fish, but the evil Immoral describes someone who knows the difference and just doesn’t care”

There was a time in the Caribbean where our grandparents and foreparents were very deeply spiritual. The focus was on respect for each other no matter what. God was the focus and center of everything.

Our leaders back then were men and women you could look up to . They exuded confidence ,self-esteem ,courage and strength. There was that sense of pride in our  people and also that deep vision of independence. So in the 60s and 70s we saw a move of great leadership towards the liberation of the Caribbean. It was a time to be proud to be from the Caribbean no matter what.

Nowadays , these so called leaders push the envelope to see what they can get away with . When they do get away with it they continue to do it because no ones holds them accountable. And they stand in public saying “ I run things “

Recently , we saw Gaston Brown the prime minister of Antigua pulling his pants up in public . It was initially said he was late for a function. How many of us have been late for functions and found ourselves putting our pants on in the middle of the street outside out the vehicle. It would take a fool to believe such a story. A few days ago  , it is alleged that Gaston was caught by a woman’s boyfriend he was having sex with . That is the  leadership we now have in the Caribbean.

Let us not forget the 2008 rape  allegation against Ralph Gonsalves.  A then 36 year old policewoman , Michele Andrews swore to a statement before the Chief Magistrate, that she was indecently assaulted by Dr Gonsalves at his official residence. The Director of  Public Prosecutions ( DPP ) deemed the case “Nolle Prosequi” . The interesting part was that the Prime Minister was the minister of Legal Affairs who directed the discontinuation.

Then there was Margaret Parsons, the executive director of the African Canadian Legal Clinic in Toronto who  charged that Ralph Gonsalves physically assaulted her during a meeting in his mansion.  That case was also discontinued by the DPP.

There have been many such allegations of crude behavior by Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica also . The story of a girlfriend taking his cellphone without his knowledge and exposing his extramarital affairs . Then there was another girlfriend and another girlfriend all trying to be heard .

Skerrit alleged girlfriend who got into his phone.

Don’t forget “The Baby Sarah Saga “ in which the Minister for National Security of Dominica , Rayburn Blackmoore, was accused of alleged gross moral misconduct and abuse of his power as Minister for Justice.

These stories go on and on and on. This is what the Caribbean leadership has become. It is now the norm. As long as votes can be bought and bribes can be given all this immorality can be swept under the rug.

We are living in sick evil times where the wolves are in sheep clothing and the devils are dressed like angels. These are times where we sell our values and soul for a few dollars more. The Caribbean is slowly becoming void of ethics and morality.

Who is going to speak up on behalf of these women whose voice have been drowned by powerful men who think they are gods ?

There is your answer. The world is run by evil immoral and unscrupulous individuals. They are beyond rehabilitating. The region must be purged of this ‘unspeakable evil’ . Can’t solve our problems in the conventional sense.

“To argue with a man who has renounced the use and authority of reason, and whose philosophy consists in holding humanity in contempt, is like administering medicine to the dead, or endeavoring to convert an atheist by scripture. ~Thomas Paine!~

Powerful article. None of us are saints but were taught one has to draw the line somewhere. #Me too has not filtered down to the Caribbean. Meanwhile we store up grapes of wrath. A moral earthquake is overdue to shake this region.
