From the Editor’s Pen!

Dominican Patriot (We the People) was born out of the necessity to create another platform where patriots can bring attention to, and discuss the many issues facing our country .We strive to accommodate opposing views and we welcome everyone who wishes to seriously engage!

There is no better time for us to engage as we reflect upon the 41st year of our independence anniversary? What does this milestone mean to us? It is time for a Strength, Opportunities, Weaknesses and Threats (SWOT) analysis. It does not matter what political party you belong to, or which politician you like or you hate. It is time to focus on the big picture- Dominica!

The future right now does not look promising if we remain upon this present trajectory! Every reasonable thinking Dominican who is aware of what is happening should know that. It does not do the country any good to pretend that we don’t see, hear, or know what’s happening. For whatever reason, some of us chose to see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil. We plead with you in the spirit of patriotism to rethink your position.

Dominicans are a strong and resilient people, and hurricane Maria confirmed that in no uncertain terms. As a people, we can move mountains, but our people have become so divided and polarized that we miss sight of that big picture before us! We must ask ourselves – To what end and to whose benefit?

When we muster the will, and the determination to work together as one, we can and we will achieve great things for our country, and for the next generation. It is incumbent upon us to leave Dominican better than our forefathers left it for us, we are only the custodians who must pass it on to future generations, let’s not disappoint them! Let’s make our ancestors proud.

We send special thanks to those who came before us, and left the values of hard work, determination and perseverance with us, let us not break the chain and pass on to the next generation!

Dominica needs all of us now, in spirit, in truth, in honesty, in love and unity for justice and prosperity for all! We wish the government and people a reflective 41st independence anniversary!
